A "Pioneer Woman" kind day!

One of my all time favorite shows is The Pioneer Woman!  I can't get enough of her show.  It comes on every Saturday and Sunday and I DVR it every week.  I kid you not it's like Christmas morning every weekend for me b/c I get to watch my favorite show(quickly b/c I can skip the ads!)  I not only love it b/c she shares the most yummy recipes but also b/c I adore her.  She's ALWAYS smiling and she's happy.  I also love her lifestyle.  She's a city girl turned ranch girl and they live on a beautiful cattle ranch in Oklahoma.  She always shares pics of her lifestyle and they are fabulous.  Her husband is a real cowboy whom she calls Marlboro Man b/c to her he looks like the man in the ads(he is really cute!) she has 4 kids whom she homeschools and lots of sweet pets.  She has an incredible blog which I love to read and is listed on my favorites.  She not only is an amazing cook but she is an incredible photographer!!  Can you tell I have a major crush? Craig laughs b/c I'm constantly talking about Ree(that's her name) like she's my bestie down the road. Oh a girl can dream!!!  Oh well until then I'll just keep watching her show, reading her blog and buying her cookbook.  Oh and continue to have days like the one we had yesterday!!  I told the fam it was a "Pioneer Woman kind of day!"  We decided to enjoy the beautiful day and go to the land.  Before we went to the land I put a roast in the oven.  I made the Pioneer Woman's  roast, you can find it on her website(it was amazing by the way!!!!!) After it was in the oven we got on the road, the Cherry Farm is one of my all time favorite places.  If I won the lottery tomorrow I would build a house out there and enjoy it everyday!  If we couldn't move out there permanently then I would love to at least go out there every weekend.  When we go to the land we don't answer cell phones or listen to music we just enjoy nature and family time.  We all get into the mule, which I don't know how much longer we'll be able to do b/c it's one small bench and that's it, and drive around the property.  The girls take turns driving, Mac drives incredibly slow and carefully and Mille likes to drive super fast!  Mille at one point did control the gas peddle like Mac(they both sit in Craig's lap while doing this) but after we all saw our lives flash before us last weekend while Mille decided to take a sharp turn while punching the gas we decided she should just stick to steering! :o)  After we drive around the land several times we go hang out with the cows.  They are all cows and one "lucky" bull then their sweet babies.  One of the cows is named April and it's Dave's favorite.  She's the lead cow(I think that's what she's called) she is like an over grown dog b/c she comes to him and follows him around. Here he is giving her a good scratch.

The girls have been intimidated of the cows up until this year.  Yesterday we "mingled" with them and fed them by hand. Mac and I decided to walk to the pasture instead of riding the mule.  We wanted to enjoy the nature a little more.   What you can't tell is Mac has on a precious outfit and leopard ballet flats!  We're so country!! Haha  Mac is trying to feed the calf, he was scared but cute pic. Prior to this pic Mac and I "saved a calf's life" he was trapped(that word is used lightly) in the pin and Mac and I jumped off the mule and herded it out with the other cows!  I felt very Pioneer-ish!!  My secret was to clap my hands and then make a sound which resembled a crow.  Crazy, yes but very effective!
Mille trying to feed my new best friend!! He didn't eat the cube but another cute pic.
This is Twilight(Mac named him for me) He not only ate out of my hand several times but he let me pet him and he even nuzzled my hand!  He then followed me a little and would come to me when I held out the cubes!!  I feel like this was the calf Mac and I freed from entrapment earlier in the day.  Maybe he views me as his rescuer!  Either way it was awesome! I am now officially the calf/cow whisperer!  I also fed Red and April. I tried to feed other little guys but they were scared.  I can't wait till next weekend to go see my little friend!!  He is now my screen saver, yes I'm a weird-o.
Here is a pic of my favorite cow, Bambi.  She's very shy but I think she's so pretty!!  She had a gorgeous light tan calf that we are begging Gaga to keep.  It's not the one in this pic but she looks similar.
After returning from the farm we enjoyed our Pioneer Woman roast, mashed potatoes and blackberry cobbler(all of these recipes are on her website.  I always put less butter in most recipes.  I'm not a big butter fan)!  I've made roasts before but this was out of this world!!!  Craig said he would buy this at a 5 star restaurant, he's such a good husband!!
Pic of cobbler b/4 I baked it.
Yummy plate!!  Instead of putting potatoes in the roast she does mashed potatoes on the side and I must admit I like it better that way.  Why wouldn't I, that's how the Pioneer Woman does it!
